Since its initial release in 2011, Microsoft Office 365 has become a giant in the world of productivity and business office tools, and Chicago IT consultant BKS Systems has become a leader in migrating local small- to medium-sized businesses to this subscription cloud-based service. Microsoft has made the growth of Office 365 one of its top priorities, and as such, the company is frequently adding system updates.

Recently Microsoft announced another major update to Office 365 that aims to capitalize on users’ social media tendencies. Under the Delve function, “a new profile page will give users a place to learn more about colleagues, providing contact information, a photo, who they work for and a summary of their experience and expertise. It will also discover their recent activity and a give a quick glimpse of what they are working on.”

Office 365 Updates

According to Microsoft, the profile will also now be actionable. Users will be able to start a Skype chat, call or email co-workers and colleagues directly from their profile pages. For those with privacy concerns with the latest Office 365 updates, the company said Delve will only show content to users that they have permission to see.

Another major update with Delve is the ability for users to add a personal touch to their profiles. Profile and background photos along with the ability to edit expertise will make it easier for other users to quickly discover information about other users for greater work efficiency.

“Delve is more useful and intuitive than ever thanks to the new profile page. By connecting you with the content and the contacts who are relevant to you, Delve helps break down silos and keep you in the know,” said Nick Robinson, senior product marketing manager for the Office 365 team.

Office 365 Update Timeline

In its recent announcement, Microsoft said the updates will be rolled out over the next few weeks with a complete release by the end of the second quarter of 2016. The Delve update will be included in the Office 365 Enterprise E1–E5 subscription plans (including the corresponding A2–A4 and G1–G4 plans for Academic and Government customers, respectively). Delve is also included in the Office 365 Business Essentials and Business Premium plans.
